W1 - Feb26

Dear, parents.

I am very happy with G2. They were all very well behaved taking my test. I believe the class is responding very positively towards my teaching methods.

Although, I already set the communication book homework. I would like students to just read the story instead of copying the week 1 VW. Please enjoy the long weekend. I am very proud of them. Keep up the good work. 🤍🙏

Students learned a lot of extra content about space. They really liked my Q and A lesson style. I will continue with this extra topical learning. 👍

P.s I will return the quiz/test papers next week. However, I will post the average scores later tonight, once I mark the papers.

Have a wonderful log weekend.

W1 - Feb 25

 Dear, parents.

Today we covered science, phonics, and some of Reading Street scheduled for this week. I am slowly getting the students into a routine. Sadly, I feel there are some issues in the classroom that can be resolved easily, I hope. The first is students coming to class without English books. English books are left at home, or in homeroom classrooms. Also, some students even come to class without a pencil! I believe the answer to this first issue is to have students put all their English books into a zipbag, with an extra pencil inside.

Please see the image below:

Please, all students need this kind of zipbag to hold all of their English books.

The second issue is students randomly standing up in class, trying to do some kind of playtime thing, like playing with a pencil or ruler. I think the answer to this issue is to remind your children that class time is not the time to play. I can manage the class and correct this kind of behavior. However, if I am having to do this all the time with a few students, it takes away time from teaching the students who want to learn.

Tomorrow morning students will take their first weekly test with me. Please find an example of the test below. Students can use it to review for the test tomorrow.

Congratulations and thank you to those students that completed their first row on my loyalty card.

Please encourage them to keep learning and improving in my class. 🙏🤍

Dear, parents. My name is Dean Cook (Mr. Cook) I'm the new G2 I2 teacher.
I will do my best to get to know your children and teach them to the best of my abilities.

I am a new teacher in Xinmin, so please be patient with me while I am adjusting to the new environment and administration side of this school.

Below you can find the homework set for this week. Also, I introduced students to my worksheet style with some extra material about Space Exploration.

Although it is my first class with them today, students responded well. I also introduced my loyalty card reward scheme. I'm happy with their enthusiasm and very proud that one student even finished his first row. Congratulations to Felix. He went above and beyond to help me today, and also another student who was having difficulties in class.

FYI students will gain stamp points for answering questions, helping me, and also helping other classmates. Once a student finishes a row, they can come to see me and choose some small rewards. If a student completes a full card, they will also receive a drink.

P.s I believe there were some issues previously with this class. However, I hope that the students want to start fresh. It is my belief that they can adjust themselves to my teaching style and will soon be in a routine to actively want to learn and succeed in English.
